Obituary

Aubrey David Hargis, 79, of Higbee, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born September 12, 1943, in Higbee, Missouri to Lowell Milton and Hilda Mae (Comstock) Hargis. 

He is survived by his wife Aleen of the home; daughters, Gina Kilgore and husband, Kim of Allen, Texas and Dawn Shaikh and husband Moin of Lake Forest Park, Washington; son William “Bill” Hargis and wife, Tiffinie of Olympia, Washington; stepsons Jason Lewis, and wife, Sara of Greenwood, Missouri and Tom Lewis and wife, Stacie of Falls City, Nebraska and stepdaughter, Becca Pamperl and husband, Vince of Columbia, Missouri. He is survived by fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces  nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother CT Hargis and a stepson Richard Lewis.

Aubrey joined the Air Force after graduating high school and had received his honorable discharge. He also had a career working in the coal mines as an electrician. He loved farming, gardening, fishing, and just being in the country. He enjoyed visits with his children and grandchildren. There was never a dull moment of him teaching them all to fish and ride the 4-wheelers. His greatest pleasure was sitting in his shop around the wood stove drinking a beer and chatting it up with his friends. He was a good father, grandfather, and caring husband, who loves will be greatly missed

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Myers Chapel Cemetery.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation Saturday, December 17, 2022, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services honoring Aubrey’s life will follow at 1:00 pm.  Military honors, committal prayer and burial will be held at Myers Chapel Cemetery.
