Anna “Joyce” Smith, 81, passed away,Tuesday November 12th, 2024. Her last breaths were spent with those that she cherished most. She was proceeded in death by her parents (Davis and Catherine Haley), husband (Billy Gene “Bunk” Smith), sister (Vera Haley), and brothers (Frederick and John Edward). She is survived by her daughter Catherine Hull, granddaughters Allison Price, Haley Price, Shynese Alexander and Brittany Glasgow, and grandson Caleb Smith. As well as great grandchildren Amoni, Amerianna, Aseer, and Asani. Also included in family is the famous five (Nancy, Patsy, Maralynn, and Sherry).
Joyce was born in Cario, MO where she resided her whole life. She and Bunk Smith got married November 28th, 1963. She lived a life fulfilling her dreams, as she graduated with a Masters in teaching, business, and accounting from Truman University out of Kirksville, MO. After 30 years she retired from teaching and focused on a long career at Botkin’s Trucking and Smith Tax services that she did from her home. She was a member of Caro Baptist Church and devoted 51 years as a Grand Orchestrator to Eastern Star. When she wasn’t committing her time to Eastern Star, traveling or other obligations; she enjoyed spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking from scratch, playing piano, and ladies night playing cards.
To know Joyce is to know she loved hard, and would do anything for anyone. She was selfless, didn’t know a stranger, held no judgement and could shift the energy in any room she entered. Our hearts are heavy as she has passed on but we are joyed to know she is no longer suffering from the pain that she endured.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to donor's choice in care of Cater Funeral Home.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation, that was held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel followed by an Eastern Star service. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating Joyce’s life were held In the Cater Funeral Home Chapel followed by committal prayer and burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
