Obituary

 

Anna Mae Downing, 96 of Moberly, formerly of Paramus, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She was born November 20, 1926 in Union City, New Jersey to parents George and Elizabeth Busch. Anna Mae grew up in Secaucus, NJ, marrying Ellsworth Downing in 1950, and moving to Paramus, NJ in 1952. They moved to Moberly, Mo in 2005.

She belonged to the Paramus Park Mall Walking Club, the PTO Bowling league, and she enjoyed golfing and traveling with her husband all over the United States. She liked to garden, sew, knit and crochet, and was a member of the Little Dixie Library Knitting and Crocheting Group. She swam and exercised with the seniors at the Moberly YMCA as well as bowling with the seniors each week.

Preceding her in death is her husband Ellsworth T. Downing and son George C. Downing.

She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Schmitt of West Caldwell, NJ; daughters Elizabeth Devenport of Moberly, MO. and Elaine (husband Dennis) Lang of Manhattan, KS; 4 grandchildren Douglas (wife Amanda) Devenport of Moberly, Mo., Regina (husband Matthew) Werdehausen of Columbia, Mo., and Marisa and Angelica Lang of Manhattan, KS.; and 4 great-grandchildren, Elsie Devenport, Anson and Thea Werdehausen and Reimund Ruiz.

Words of comfort and support were shared  with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Anna Mae’s life were held in Paramus, NJ. Committal Prayer and Burial took place at the George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
