Obituary

Alice Jodel Darst, 55, of Macon formerly of Madison, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Samaritan Memorial Hospital, Macon, MO. Jodel was born February 21, 1965 at the Woodland Hospital in Moberly to Delmar and Betty (White) Darst.

Jodel was a very independent and loving person. She was an excellent party planner and loved to entertain. All holidays were celebrated with style. From a very young age her love of life was evident through her joy of being with family and her enthusiasm for music.

Jodel joined her brother Kevin Darst at the family farm in Madison. Seventeen months later her baby sister was introduced. When Jodel was seven years old she journeyed to Hannibal, MO to receive her education where she lived during the week with Richard and Mildred Crane aka Mama Mildred and Daddy Richard. The two families merged as one to unite and promote Jodel’s abilities. She went on to graduate from Mississippi Valley State School in 1986. After graduation she gained employment at The Learning Center in Monroe City.

In 1997 Jodel moved to Macon, MO to be closer to her sister and family. Jodel gained employment at Macon Diversified Industries where she retired after 22 years of service in 2020.

Jodel had many hobbies and talents. She loved to Country line dance and did so every week for many years with her dance friends. She attended the State Fair every year and was just as enthusiastic as the year before. Jodel made many trips to the lake to feed the fish which she really loved to do. She was also an excellent Bingo caller.

Wonderland Camp was the highlight of her summer. She loved all of the activities and would bring home wonderful art creations.

Jodel lived her life to the fullest and has truly touched many lives. She was loved by anyone who got to know her.

Jodel was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents Seldon and Alice Darst, Joe and Pansy White all of Madison.

She is survived by her brother Kevin Darst and his wife Lynn and sister Susan Darst both of Madison and her nephew Blake Martin of North Carolina and many cousins and friends who adored and loved Jodel that were close to her heart.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wonder Land Camp.

A celebration of Jodel’s life will be held April 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM followed by a meal in the Madison Community Center.
