Virginia Helen McGuire

Virginia Helen McGuire, 80, of Moberly, died Thursday, October 31, 2019. She was born January 18, 1939 in Moberly, MO to Lowern and Ruby (Sheaves) Gravitt.

Virginia married Loren L. “Mac” McGuire, the only man she ever loved and her soulmate, on February 10, 1962 in Macon, MO and together they could get through anything. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Lowern Gravitt.

Survivors include her children; Lorna Purvis and her husband Dale of Capron, IL, Kevin McGuire and his wife Patty, Michelle Belsher and her husband Jim all of Huntsville, MO and Mike McGuire and his wife Rikki of Moberly, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia Feldkamp of Higginsville, MO and Betty Entwhistle of Moberly, a brother, Bill Gravitt of Georgia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Virginia was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church, Renick, MO. She loved being with her family, she was everyone’s “mom” and “grandma”, if you were in her home, you were part of her family. Virginia was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing; she could always be counted on to make costumes for her kids and grandkids; she also enjoyed making and decorating cakes for many weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. Virginia was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking for her family; her famous cheeseburgers will be missed.

Memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated.

 Services honoring and celebrating Virginia’s life were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and entombment followed at the Resurrection Mausoleum, Oakland Cemetery.
