Steven W. Lusby

Steven W Lusby, 62, of Blue Grass, IA formerly of the Moberly area, passed away September 2, 2019.  He was born November 4, 1956 in Moberly to Frank E. Jr and Peggy (Calvin) Lusby. 

He was a landscaper in the Blue Grass, IA area. 

Survivors include his sister, Sharon Rutherford, 3 half-brothers, Russell, Ronnie, and Raymond Lusby, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and step-father, Peggy and Virgil Spicer. 

Steven was a three-time world wrist-wrestling champion, appearing numerous times on ABC’s Wide World of Sports.  As a young man, Steven began working for the Caterpillar Company, but soon realized he wasn’t cutout for a job that kept him inside all the time.  Landscaping was an occupation he was well suited for, and he was very good at it.  He spent most of his life working as a successful landscaper in the Blue Grass, IA area.

Steven wasn’t a materialistic person.  Although he worked hard and had a good job, accumulating wealth and possessions was never his ambition.  He lived a simple life.  He enjoyed reading, especially the bible, and watching boxing events, professional wrestling, old westerns, and Sunday church services on TV. He was a very neat person and liked everything well organized and its proper place.  He was outgoing, very friendly, always smiling, and ever ready to help others.  When he saw one of his neighbors out and about, he would often roll down his window and shout “Hi neighbor!” as he drove by.

Services honoring and celebrating Steven’s life were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel.  Private Committal services will be held at a later time.
