Obituary

Mary Josephine McNear, 82, passed away on October 11, 2018 at her home in Columbia, Missouri.

Mary was born on December 20, 1935 in Moberly, Missouri to Bert Guittar and Gladys Hicks. She graduated from Mioberly High School in 1953. She married Frank Campbell in 1954. She then met and married Robert McNear, Jr on June 4, 1965. They were married for 33 years before his passing in 1998. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Computerized Business Systems (Orscheln) for over 42 years.

Mary was an avid bowler and was a member of the Moose Club for many years. She enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends, spending time at the casinos, and visiting different states around the country. She also loved to garden and can fresh garden vegetables.

Mary is survived by her four children: Tina Miller of Columbia, Christie Dawkins (David) of Moberly, Steven McNear (Pam) of Illinois, Debi Moreno of Columbia; brother, Michael Guittar (Terra) of New Bloomfield; sister, Francis Stein (Kevin) of Moberly; grandchildren: Billy Dawkins (Samantha) of Moberly, Nikki Whipple (Richard) of Kansas City, Chris Moreno (Leah) of Independence, Amy Dawkins of Moberly, Linda McNear, Robert McNear, and Sammy McNear, all of Illinois; 9 great-grandchildren; “sisters-by-choice”: Rita and Jennifer; “Daughters-by-choice”: Robin, Janet, and Crystal. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert McNear, Jr., and her beloved yorkie, Skeeter.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Central Missouri Humane Society. Services honoring and celebrating Mary’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
