Lester F. “Fred” Dunwoody, 88, of Moberly, died Sunday, October 28, 2018. He was born November 22, 1929 in Monroe County, MO to Alva Lester and Corna (Ross) Dunwoody.
Fred served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee during the Korean War before receiving an honorable discharge.
Fred was a farmer all his life; for many years he had served as a delegate for the MFA. He was proud of his service to his country. Fred loved his family and friends and will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Fred married Shirley Farris on January 10, 1959 in Rucker, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Brian, four sisters; Fern Kouder, Alice Willingham, Reva Neale and Melia Neale and three brothers; Ross, Grover and Ray Dunwoody.
Survivors include his children; Kent Dunwoody and his wife Sarah of Le Mars, IA, Wayne Dunwoody and his wife Donna and Connie Dunwoody all of Moberly, six grandchildren; Adam Dunwoody, Rachael Karr, Byron Dunwoody, Ryan Dunwoody, Jacob Ragsdale and Ellie Dunwoody, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Rex Dunwoody, three sisters; Leta Wilson of the State of California, Bonnie and Dollie Dunwoody both of Moberly, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions to his granddaughter’s, “Ellie Dunwoody Fund” would be appreciated.
Services honoring and celebrating Fred’s life were held at the Cater Funeral home Chapel. Committal prayers, Military Honors and burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
