Hazel Lorine Thorp, 71, of Moberly, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was born August 24, 1948 in Moberly to George M. and Edna (Hess) Gravitt.
Hazel married Harry D. Thorp on April 30, 1966 in Moberly and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Billy and Frank Gravitt, two sisters, Edna Johnson and Rose Canaday, two grandchildren, James Dean and Isabella Grisham and a great-grandson, Brantley Dean Gibson.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Grisham and husband James of Moberly and Ella Belcher and husband Robert of Fayette, nine grandchildren; Jessica Grisham, Raquel Grisham Bohn and husband Tyler, John Grisham and Kaitlin Kindell, Chloe Grisham, Tara, Shasta and Brooke Belcher, ten great-grandchildren, a brother, Henry Gravitt and wife Elizabeth, a sister, Lavella Walters and husband Laurence all of Moberly, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family, going to family dinners, cooking, reading her Bible, dancing and singing karaoke. She was always there for anyone that needed her and loved helping in any way she could. Hazel will always be remembered for her big heart and her thoughtfulness.
Services honoring and celebrating Hazel’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayer and burial followed in the Hagar Cemetery.
