Obituary

E. Richard “Rick” Roberts, 71, of Marceline, formerly of Moberly, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the University Hospital in Columbia. He was born January 21, 1948 in Moberly to Eldon Brown and Mary Dee (Hulen) Roberts.

Prior to retirement Richard was a minister at various churches.

Survivors include his daughter, Brittany Hayes and her husband Joey of Pond Creek, OK, three granddaughters, other relatives and friends, including his special friend, Linda Dumm.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant sons.

Richard was a devoted Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 14, where he was baptized in the Union Avenue Christian Church. Through his faithful journey with the Lord, Richard was called to become a minister. He attended Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Lincoln Christian College in Illinois and he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Ministry from Bartlesville Wesleyan in Bartlesville, OK. He then worked towards his Master’s Degree at Phillips University in Tulsa, OK. While attending college he enjoyed singing in the men’s quartet.

After graduating Richard ministered at various churches in Oklahoma. He ministered at Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 15 years and at Marceline First Christian Church for four years.

Richard loved being a servant to the Lord, but most of all he loved sharing God’s love with others. He was a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and worked his way up to being a trainer. He devoted countless hours operating a warm line on Saturdays and Sundays.

He was a member of the Ministerial Alliance in Marceline, a faithful member of Timber Lake Christian Church and was on the board of the Pregnancy Resource Center in Marceline.

Richard was a giving man; he had chosen to become an organ donor in 2014, even after his death he gave life. His legacy will live on in all the lives he impacted and he will never be forgotten.

Services honoring and celebrating Richard’s life were held at the Timber Lake Christian Church. Private Committal services will be at a later date.
