Obituary

Blane Dean Smith, 63 of Moberly, died Friday, April 26, 2019.  He was born January 9, 1956 in San Bernadino, CA to Beverly Harlan and Eldean Ruth (McCoy) Smith.

Prior to retirement Blane had worked at Orscheln Factories, Orbco, Dura and Qualico for 29 years.

Blane married Cynthia “Cindy” Lewis on May 22, 1976 in Moberly and she survives.  Also surviving are his daughter, April Case and husband Ike of Moberly, a grandson Ike “Shorty” Case, his mother and step- father, Eldean and Billy Barnes, a brother, Brian Smith and his wife Dolores, mother-in-law, Carol Lewis and Melvin Bussen all of Moberly, brothers-in-law, John Lewis and wife Donna of Huntsville, David Lewis and wife Jodi and Greg Lewis and wife Tara all of Moberly, sister-in-law, Cathy Hegerfeld and husband Ken of California, MO, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Brent.

Blane was a member of the Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church where he had served several years as the church historian, lay leader and a cast member of the Proclaim the Glory which he loved. He was a mediocre fisherman and terrible singer, but loved to do both. He was also a science fiction enthusiast and an avid shopper, Walmart was his “go to” place. He had volunteered as a driver, dishwasher and “gopher” for the Randolph County Girl Scouts for 20 years.

Memorial contributions to the Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church would be appreciated. 

 Services honoring and celebrating Blane’s life were held at the Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.  Committal prayers and burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
