Billy Gene “Bunk” Smith, 81 of rural Cairo, died February 27, 2019. He was born east of Cairo, MO on December 21, 1937 to the late Eldon Ray and Anna Elizabeth (Bowden) Smith.
Bunk was a farmer all of his life and enjoyed visiting with his farming neighbors. He loved his pigs, cows, and his special dog, Bozo.
He married Anna Joyce Haley on November 28, 1963 at Cairo, MO and she survives of the home. Also surviving is his daughter, Cathy Hull of Columbia; 4 grandchildren, Allison Price, Haley Price, Caleb Smith and Brittany Glasgow; an honorary granddaughter, Shynese Alexander; great-grandson, A’Moni Price, great-grandaughter, A’Merianna Price and a brother Eldon Ray Smith, Jr and Arlene of Columbia, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Memorials to the Jacksonville Order of the Eastern Star would be appreciated.
Services honoring and celebrating Bunk’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
