Barbara Jo Sumpter

Barbara Jo Sumpter, 70, of Clark died Friday, June 28, 2019.  She was born September 26, 1948 at Clark, MO to Walter and Josephine (Moore) Canote.

She married Larry Sumpter on Febuary 20, 1967 at Moberly, MO and he survives.  Also surviving are her children, Richard Sumpter and his wife Angie of Moberly, Chad Sumpter of Lees Summit, MO and Denise Briscoe and her husband Ben of Moberly, 8 grandchildren, Andrea and Allison Sumpter, Clayton and Drake Briscoe, Patrick Avery Sumpter, Lyndsey Brook, Cody and Katie Parker, a great-grandson, Waylon Fisher, 3 brothers, James Canote and his wife Dorothy of Harrisburg, MO, Ron Canote and his wife Janet of Clark, MO, Dennis Canote and his wife Annette of Ashland, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darrell Canote.

She was an avid sports fan who loved the Cardinals, Chiefs, and Tigers, but her favorite athletes were her children and grandchildren. Barbara will be remembered as the most giving wife, mother, nana and friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Dialysis Clinic of Moberly would be appreciated.  

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Thursday July 11, 2019, 4 to 6PM at the Cater Funeral Home.  Private services honorary and celebrating Barbara Jo’s life will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
