Obituary

Mary Madeline Law, 97 of Moberly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, March 03, 2024. She was born January 21, 1927, to Thomas Reason and Rachel Cathern (Manley) Smith.

Madeline married the love of her life, Charles Ray Law, on February 3, 1947 in Harrisburg, IL, and they celebrated 43 years together before his passing May 2, 1990.

Madeline worked for many people cleaning their homes, and she also loved to take in sewing for others. She enjoyed embroidering pillow cases, dish cloths and loved to do puzzles, and during the week when she wasn’t working, you could find her sitting at the table with family and friends playing dominoes, and she was always the score keeper.

If you knew Madeline, you would know her as a loving and caring soul, a loving wife, and an outstanding and dedicated mother to her daughter Ruth. After the passing of her husband Charles, she had to take on the full duty of caring for her daughter. It took a lot of work to see after the daily needs Ruth needed, but Madeline never wavered and wherever you seen one, you seen them both. From hospital stays to doctor appointments, Madeline stayed right beside her daughter to be sure that she was always getting the best of care. She had a true servant’s heart for the Lord, and believed in the power of prayer, and she was never ashamed to spend time in prayer for others that was in need.

She was a very strong believer, and a very hard worker for the Lord. From Sunday school teacher, to janitor, nursery worker, to any other job in the church, you could always count on her to be willing, to work for the Lord. She attended The Church of God in Moberly until it closed, and in 1984 she was one of the founding member of Echoes of Calvary church.

She considered almost anyone around her “family,” and always welcomed them into her home to watch a good western movie, or one of her favorite soap operas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, daughter Ruth, brother’s Louis Edgar, Thomas Junior, Gerald Dean, Gilbert Arnold, Joseph Raymond, and 1 sister, Hattie Elizabeth Fletcher. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family and many friends.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services honoring Madeline's life. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
