Obituary

Edith Mae Fowlks Beamer, 95 of Moberly passed away April 20, 2024. Edith was born February 17, 1929 to Lawrence and Augusta (Kunze) Ellerbeck on the family farm in Cairo. She married Ernie Fowlks on October 15, 1951. The couple enjoyed many activities together. They bowled in many tournaments, winning multiple awards across the country. They always helped haul hay on the family farm each summer.  After Ernie’s passing Edith married Hershel Beamer. They enjoyed traveling in their RV all across the United States.  Edith was an active member of the West Park Methodist Church. She enjoyed all church functions but her favorite was their annual corned beef and cabbage dinner.  In her later years Edith enjoyed traveling every year with her two sisters, Louise and Marian.

One of her lifelong joys was taking care of her yard and growing a very large garden. She was always mowing her yard or someone else’s. She loved growing and canning vegetables and fruit that she shared generously with many people. Her canned green beans and peaches were always loved by everyone. Edith lived to help others. She always gave anything she had to anyone who was in need. Edith’s generosity was never in doubt. One thing she never hesitated to share was her opinion. There was never any doubt what Edith was feeling. She always let you know if there was a problem and what you should do to fix it. Her love and honesty will be missed by many.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four sisters, Louise Precht and husband Lionel, Marion Stinnett and husband Marshal, Helen Gibson and husband Eddie, twin sister Ethel Messer and husband Sam, and one brother Harlan Ellerbeck and wife Janie.

Edith is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by  funeral services honoring and celebrating Edith's life.    Committal prayer and burial took place in the Oakland Cemetery Moberly, MO

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
