Obituary

Charles Ray Palmer, 91, formerly of Moberly, MO, died peacefully at his home in Denver, CO, April 9, 2024.  He was surrounded by his loving family when he succumbed to a recent illness.

Charles was born October 28, 1932 on a farm outside of Moberly to his parents James William and Leta (Essig) Palmer.  He is preceded in death by his sister Margie Dudley and brother Bill Palmer.  Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ana L. Palmer (Gritton); his sons Mike Palmer (Nola) of Littleton, CO; Scott Palmer (Julie) of Littleton, CO and his daughter Cathy Palmer of Cedaredge, CO.  He was blessed with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Charles attended school in Moberly through junior college.  In 1953, he joined the Army and spent most of the next two years in a Tokyo Army hospital working in the Treasurer’s Office.  In 1955 he married the love of his life, Ana, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Moberly.  The two of them moved numerous times during the next fifteen years before finally settling in Denver in 1970.  Charles started his sales career with Celotex Corp in 1955.  In 1989, Charles and Ana teamed together to start their own sales agency that continues today.

More than anything, Charles enjoyed being with his family.  Nothing was more fun than a houseful of kids enjoying themselves.  He was adored by everyone he met as he had the most gentle, warm and caring personality.  Charles was a follower of Christ, actively volunteering at the United Methodist Church in Lakewood, CO.  He would take on small jobs to keep the church looking its best.  Charles was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Pinehurst Country Club in Denver.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Friday, April 26, 2024, 10:00-11:00am, at the Coates Street Presbyterian Church, to be followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Charles' life at 11:00am. Committal prayer and burial will take place at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Clifton Hill, MO.
